I recently had the pleasure of stumbling into the Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District in New Jersey. The Canopy is located in the heart of downtown Jersey City right near Grove Street and the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza. Whether you check in here to spend time in Hudson County or choose to venture across the river to NYC, you are just a walk or train away. It’s convenient to get to anywhere in Jersey City, hop over to Hoboken, or even spend time going to the Statue of Liberty.
Although a perfect hotel for any season or occasion, I loved being able to stay here during the Fall season. It’s both my favorite season and the perfect weather for exploring the local sights.
Stumbling into the Canopy
Finding the Canopy is easy to do, as it is right next to the Grove St. Path Station. The fun, bright orange sign at the entrance leads you right to it.
As you walk in, you’ll take an elevator to the lobby area to check-in. There, you’ll find friendly staff, a spacious lounge area, and snacks and beverages for purchase. You’ll immediately feel the 4-star vibe of the hotel the second you step into the hip lobby.
Above the front desk, you’ll notice 14 guitars painted by local artists. Each one of these artists’ work is featured for a month around the entire hotel – in the lobby, the lounge, the hallways, and more! You’ll immediately feel the sense of community surrounding you as you look around the Canopy at the local artists’ work.
Around the Canopy by Hilton
There are a variety of features at the Canopy by Hilton that will keep you busy when you’re not out exploring.
For starters, if you want to read a book or get some work done, the spacious lounge area and tables at the restaurant give ample room for you to set up and feel comfortable for an hour or a few hours at a time.
When you want to move your body to get some exercise, you can seek out the gym that offers cardio equipment, weight sets, and other equipment. Not only does it offer your typical gym equipment, but the Canopy is also working on rolling out a Peloton partnership. As of now, it offers a Peloton bike in the gym, but eventually, there will be an entire Peloton room to promote overall wellness and relaxation.
Or, maybe you don’t want to go to the gym but would rather head outside for fresh air. You can do that by checking out a free bike provided by the Canopy to tour the area.
When you get back after a long day touring around, you can sit at the bar or at the restaurant to reflect on how beautiful Hudson County and NYC really are. On a nice day, you could bring your drink outside to the quaint patio located right next to the bar to enjoy the fresh air.
Business Travel at the Canopy
If you are part of a conference or business travel, the Canopy also has options for you! You can rent out a space in the back that is of ample size to hold a meeting. There’s even a wet bar area for catering, drinks, and more!
Waking Up in the Canopy by Hilton
Whether you are an early or late riser, you’ll be welcomed by natural light coming in through your large glass windows. You can spend your time waking up with an espresso from the coffee bar in your room until you are ready to head to breakfast at the restaurant. Because it is open until 11 am, you have time to get some work done at your desk or enjoy a nice hot shower in the luxurious bathroom in your room.
When you get to breakfast, you can choose from the buffet breakfast or order à la carte from the menu. You can’t go wrong with either. You can also rest assured that the buffet has a variety of options from bagels with lox, scrambled eggs, potato skillets, pastries, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, and more. Whether you want to splurge on pancakes or prefer to stick with healthier options after long travel days, you get the option to decide.
Dinner at the Canopy Central Bar & Bistro
After a long day of roaming around the city, taking time to relax and sip on a nice cocktail or a glass of wine at the Canopy Central Bar & Bistro is the way to go.
You can order from their menu which boasts delicious cuisine from crab cakes to wood-fired pizzas. Sit at one of the many comfortable booths or choose to sit at the high top to mix it up. As a solo traveler, you may prefer to sit at the bar instead.
A huge thank you to Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District for welcoming me to the hotel to share my experience and stay! Just like always, all opinions and photos are my own!
