As my first stop in the van, I realized that since this is more of a lifestyle and not a traditional vacation, the experience of the day-to-day is quite different as well. When I would normally try every restaurant, cafe, and wine bar, van life has forced me to slow down, enjoy different areas of a city, and balance work, life, and exploring all at the same time.
Whether you are passing through Denver in your van or wanting to know some good areas to explore if you are headed here on vacation for 72 hours in Denver, here are a few spots I checked out while in my van!
Washington Park
Washington Park is a 155-acre park in the city of Denver. There is plenty of green space to let your dog run around, get some work done on a warm day, go for a run around the two lakes, or enjoy grilling out in the picnic area.
They even have a few events going on during the summer months.
As a van lifer, I came here most days I was in the city to get some work done. Not far from here, there’s also a cute coffee shop called Wash Perk with a great coffee selection.
Larimer Street
Larimer Street, located in the heart of downtown, is a popular pedestrian street in Denver. You can go to grab some grub or a nice glass of wine.
If you’re looking for a popular place to eat, come down here for the people watching and great food!
Cheesman Park
Located east of Capitol Hill, Cheesman Park is a natural oasis in the heart of the city of Denver.
This park is perfect for picnics on a summer night, hanging out with friends during the day, or just getting in a quick jog.
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater
Red Rocks Park is your typical must-visit place in Denver. If you can, definitely visit during the day and then come back at night for a concert at the Amphitheater.
While this may be hard with just 72 hours in Denver, you can do both!
An easy hike to do at Red Rocks Park is the Trading Post Trail. This is a 1.5-mile loop through the Red Rocks. Check out my Colorado hiking post for more on this hike.
I only spent a few days here, and they were some of the first in my van so I didn’t get out and explore too much! However, if you’re looking for a spot to sleep, check out my free camping map! You can also check out the ultimate summer road-trip itinerary through Colorado.
