work from home essentials

Working from home is no joke. As nice as it is to roll out of bed, throw your hair up in a bun, and sit at your desk with no bra, we still need our work from home essentials to truly get us into the groove of productivity. Whether you work from home by choice or because of our current pandemic, I’ve done the dirty work of compiling everything I think you NEED to have in your cozy home to do your best while working from home.

Candles

I mean, who doesn’t want their space to smell nice!? Not only does it spruce up the air of your work from home space, but it also sets the mood for a relaxing environment. Some of my favorite candles I’ve found over the last year:

Notebooks

I used to be a planner gal before the pandemic hit. I had everything in one place – my monthly calendar, my to-do lists, and my weekly agenda. Now that I am working from home, I’ve found it’s easier to have a desk or wall calendar and a separate bulleted to-do list. It helps that I’ve had notebooks lying around for years that I never got to make use of…and now I do! Some of my favorites are linked below:

Coffee maker

I used to roll out of bed, throw clothes on, and not even grab a coffee until I got to work. My rationale being that coffee at work was free. Sadly, I now have to buy my own Kcups. Bummer, I know. However, I did find a 2 in 1 coffee maker that allows you to make a pot or use Kcups! I’ve also learned how to make cold brew, which is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. I use the carafe below and it perfectly holds 4 cups of cold brew!

Comfortable desk chair

The couch is appealing, I know. I’ve been there. But it’s proven that working at a desk is not only better for your posture, but your overall sleep patterns. If you work in your bed, your body becomes confused and you’ll have a harder time falling asleep at night. So, get the comfy chair instead.

Large Desk

Tables are cool. Especially for eating. When working from home, you need YOUR space. A space for your work belongings, your to-do list, a calendar, a cup of coffee, and of course, your candles. To do this, you have to make sure you set up a place for yourself, including your very OWN desk space. I’ve compiled a list of several desks that are great for working from home!

Water Bottle

One thing that I’ve made a goal to do while working from home is to drink more water. It’s easy to forget to drink water when you’re sitting at a desk all day, but it’s undeniable how much water benefits our health. A few of my FAVE water bottles are linked below:

Blue Light Glasses

I know it’s not just me and my eyes that get super dry after staring at a screen all day. As a teacher, I NEVER stared at screens. Now that I teach remotely, lesson plan remotely, blog, etc., I am constantly on screens. I am so happy that I got blue light glasses to protect my eyes on a daily basis! Think: less dry eyes and less stinging. A few of my favorite below:
