We’re all in this together. There has never been a time in my life where I could say that — where we ALL were ACTUALLY in this TOGETHER. Like, the ENTIRE world. At home. In quarantine. Wild.
Although some days are difficult, boring, lazy, and lethargic, I have had others where my creativity has boomed, productivity has spiked, and happiness has grown.
I want everyone else to be able to foster their own sense of creativity and happiness, so I have come up with a list of 50 things to do to during quarantine. The Big Q’s got nothing on us!
Have a Movie Day
- Amazon Prime, HBO, and Hulu are all offering longer free trials during quarantine due to the pandemic
- Some of the best movies I’ve seen during quarantine:
- 6 Underground
- Jumanji
- Dark Waters
- The Way Back
Binge Watch Tiger King
Yes, this one gets its own because it’s just that entertaining. OH, and Carole Baskin lives in my hometown. AKA, where her husband’s dead body lies unfound.
Cozy up and Read a Good Book
- Barnes and Noble and Amazon are what I’ve found to be the quickest with shipping during quarantine! A few of the ones I’ve read during The Big Q and loved below:
- American Dirt
- The Crossroads of Should and Must
- Where the Crawdads Sing
- Little Fires Everywhere
Bake Banana Bread
- During quarantine, I have baked banana bread multiple times because our bananas keep accidentally going bad. Now I let them go bad on purpose.
Paint
- Granted I have not painted myself, I wish I was artsy enough to do so, and I happened to leave my Paint-by-Number up in the northeast when escaping the pandemic.
Have a Picnic
- We sat in our front yard on the beach during sunset with takeout and a blanket. It doesn’t get better than that! We’re also planning on going to a State park now that parks are open to get in a run and then sit with a picnic. Picnics are the new top outings.
Journal
- Whether you write down your feelings, the whirlwind of things happening in 2020, or just get your thoughts and ideas down, a journal is a great outlet to let go of your worries.
Start a Gratitude Journal
- Writing down 3 things you are grateful for each day is proven to boost positivity and improve mental health.
Yoga
- I highly recommend Yoga with Adrienne. She has SO many videos and my favorite one right now is the 30 day yoga.
Foster a Puppy
Meditate
- There are so many apps out there to help guide you, my favorite being Headspace. They’re offering a free year to those who are unemployed during this time and there’s also a free trial as well!
Talk to a Therapist
- Although this seems against the status quo, or what I believe just isn’t talked about often enough, video therapy calls or phone calls offer a reprieve from the world we’re living in currently. It’s also a way to continue with therapy in our new virtual world from home.
- Psychology Today is a great platform to find a therapist under your insurance.
May Challenge 100k
- The 100k challenge is happening all around the world to keep us motivated and healthy during a time we can barely leave our homes.
- For motivation, check out Brooke Willson and Adrienne Herbert on IG

- I don’t know about you, but this is the most time I’ve ever had on my hands.

Drink Lots of Water
- So many water bottle companies that are making drinking water more sustainable could use your business! Check out: HydroJug, Swell, and Hydroflask.
Make Whipped Coffee
- Recipe: 1 tablespoon instant coffee, 1 tablespoon water, 1 tablespoon sugar. Whip it all up for 3 mins with an electric mixer. Pour over iced milk. And wah-lah…a fancy whipped coffee!
Write Letters
- Our world is filled with virtual meetings, virtual happy hours, virtual EVERYTHING. Mix it up a bit. Write a hand written letter to a friend or acquaintance. I’m sure you’ll make their day.
Giveaway Clothes
Start a Book Club
- But obviously, make it virtual. Host a Zoom meeting, get a glass of wine, and talk about the book. It’s almost like you’re actually there in person!
Go on a Walk
Host a Virtual Happy Hour
- So many platforms offer the ability to hold many people on a face call at once. FaceTime, Houseparty, and Zoom, just to name a few, are awesome for virtual happy hours. Houseparty even offers games to play right on the app.
Put Together a Puzzle
Have a Photoshoot
- Whether you’re alone or with a Quaranteam, there are so many fun things to shoot in your surrounding areas and even your home! Get creative…it’s actually super fun!
Play Board Games
- Monopoly, Scrabble, and Risk just to name a few.
Play Card Games
- Phase 10, Uno, What do you Meme, Cards against Humanity, Never Have I Ever
Play Online Games
- I have a 3 page word document of online games…way too many to list here, but there’s an entire WORLD of games out there. Leave a comment or email me for the list!
Watch Online Tutorials
- From photography courses, to learning German, to powerpoint classes, everything is at your fingertips in this virtual world. And most are being offered at a discount during this time.
Clean Out your Photo Albums
- So many of us hold out hope for using our printed photos at one time or another. If you are using a ton of space, get rid of some! This goes for the computer and the Cloud too!
Get Ahead on Gifts to Stimulate the Economy
- With any birthdays coming up and Father’s Day in the near future, start shopping online to help out any businesses that may be suffering.
Call a Loved One
Spend Some Time in the Sunshine
Wine Taste
- Download the app Vivino to help you with this one.
- Get 3-4 bottles of wine and a notepad. Pour the tastings into your glass and take note of what you smell and taste. Rank them. Then, after, compare to a world of wine lovers’ opinions on the Vivino App.
Go Around the World
- Not literally. Set up each room with different foods and drinks from that country. The list below is how I did it:
- Ireland: whiskey gingers and popcorn
- Germany: sausage and Jager bombs
- Mexico: Corona (supporting their industry since they’re actually taking a hit right now!!) and chips and salsa
- America: wine and chocolate
- Italy: Prosecco and cheese & crackers
Do a Facial Mask
Home Improvements
- Fix a lamp, tighten your screws in the furniture, buy that rug you’ve been putting off getting, clean out your fridge, paint a room
Learn a Language
- Duolingo is such a great free app right on your phone to learn a language. If you’ve already practiced the language, you can test out of the first few levels as well.
Make a Playlist on Spotify
- I’m not sure about you, but before the Big Q, I just had 500 liked songs and 0 playlists. Now, I have more liked songs, and 3 playlists. A great way to keep your music organized!
Try a New Recipe
Explore your Local Area like a Tourist
- Hop in your car and drive around. There are spots you’ve probably never even noticed were around, and now you can go there after quarantine!
Learn a Tik Tok Dance
Take an Online Course
- I’m currently taking Christina Galbato’s IG Bootcamp course to enhance my blog, photography, promotion, and editing. Let me tell you. This course is the best thing ever.
Soak in a Bubble Bath
- It’s also nice to drink wine and read a book in the bathtub. I tried this for the first time after seeing one of those super artsy photos out there of a bath tray. Although I didn’t have a tray, I took my dog’s gate for the stairs and put it over the tub…it fit perfectly! Gotta be creative for those baths.
Listen to Podcasts
- Some of my favorites:
- The Betches Sup Podcast
- Her Life By Design

Get Takeout and Support a Small Business
Although this time in quarantine has been scary, unknown, and hard on all of us, and even harder on some of us, there is still much to be thankful for. We are able to slow down, find ourselves in a way, talk to people we wouldn’t usually talk to, and find our creative sides. One day our lives will look different again, and days will fly by once again. For now, enjoy these 50 little things to do during quarantine.
